Is social media the new Holy Book?

 As someone who has grown up at roughly the same time as the internet (I'm over a decade younger than the invention of the internet, but you get what i'm saying) I have been alive to see the transition from getting the news from newspapers and television to being able to google anything at any time. I have vivid memories of watching a tv show after dinner and having to turn it off so my dad could start watching the 7PM news. We would sit, without complaining of course, for the next thirty minutes watching whatever horrible thing was going on in the world. Whether it was good for a developing children's brain or not, i'll leave that up to you. However, I was recently scrolling through my well curated for you page on Tiktok where i stumbled upon a video which almost perfectly depicts the way the news was spread in the "good old days" and how it is spread today. Russia, whatcha doing?

For the past couple of decades Russia and Ukraine has had a complicated relationship. These past few weeks Russia has been in the news for being a bit more aggressive than usual. So, let's talk about it.  Ukraine is one of a few countries that forms a natural barrier between Russia and the Nato countries. So, to truly understand the tensions that are now on the brink of explosion we have to travel back in time. In 2008, NATO wanted to bring Ukraine into their alliance, but Russia put a stop to that by saying that it would be a hostile act towards them. Only a couple of years later, in 2013, Putin invaded and annexed Crimea which he claimed to be a rescue operation to protect the ethnic Russian majority there. In a March 2014 address  Putin said: "There is a limit to everything.
