it's time to foot the bill, or climate change will forcefully come to collect.

the term "Global warming" was coined in 1975 by geochemist Wallace Broecker. Which means that for the past 47 years (at least) we have been fully aware that the earth is warming due to greenhouse gas emissions. (or something like that, i'm not that knowledgable on the inner workings of the earth and it's atmosphere etc). Now the question at hand is, can we fix what we have done? and if not, what will we have to do so our civilization will be able to survive the new conditions that we will have to learn how to live under? because let's be honest, the world isn't ending, it has gone through way worse conditions of extreme weather, but life as we know it might just end us. If you do a quick google to see how long we still have and go to the first link that pops up (because those are usually the most reliable, right? :)) it is from an article on the  NCRD  in 2018. They report: "earlier this week, the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) issued a ...

Making my way downtown, walkin' fast, faces pass and i'm homebound (or not)

The past couple of weeks, Canada has been in the news on the regular, which is fairly unusual especially for causing ruckus. The Canadian Truckers who are protesting against Covid-19 vaccine mandates and general frustrations with the restrictions related to Covid of the last few years. So, if you are planning on making your way downtown, be sure to be walkin' fast, because the chances of being stuck in traffic for hours on end could be high. Now what effect do these protests actually have on the U.S.? Let's talk about it!  Don't get me wrong, I love a good protest as much as the next gal, and usually I am one to not cross the picket fence, however, this one I might not be able to get behind. I think we have all had our fair share of frustrations these past two years, and rightfully so. Governments setting up harsh restrictions, then all of a sudden loosening them to just implementing them again the next week. It's hard to keep up, especially when it comes to being a ...

Russia, can you please stop what you're doing (a follow up on a previous blogpost)

The Russia-Ukraine situation has gotten much tenser since my last blogpost about them. There has been much speculation on not only Russia's next move, but also NATO/ Ukrainian response to the aggression. Both parties know that if they back down they will appear weak and if you followed the news for the past few weeks I think it's clear that it will not be happening anytime soon. So, is Putin's foreign policy moves just a bluff or will he actually follow through and invade Ukraine, let's talk about it! earlier today Russian president Putin signed a presidential decree recognizing Donetsk and Luhansk (separatist regions in Eastern Ukraine) as independent states, this move could increase tensions between the West and Russia, because now Russia can claim that those regions, which are largely ethnic Russians, are seeking protection from Russia.  According to the secretary of president Putin's security council, Nikolai Patrushev, America's goal in its foreign policy,...

Covid's hands rated E for Queen Elisabeth

Queen Elisabeth II recently tested positive for Covid. Obviously the United States doesn't have a monarchy and may not know what actually happens when a member of the royal family passes away, especially the Queen (since many people weren't alive when the last king of England passed away or at least not old enough to remember) It's a relatively long and and well prepared process. and even though the Queen isn't really involved in the way the country is ruled anymore and her role is largely ceremonial, she is still a prominent figure. So, what kind does happen in the case of death in the Royal Family, let's talk about it!  The preparation for the inevitable death of Queen Elisabeth II is called "Operation LONDON BRIDGE". It sets out a detailed plan for a peaceful transition of power to Prince Charles as the head of State (the plan of Prince Charles accession to the throne is called "Operation SPRING TIDE"). This is of course necessary to prepare ...
